Walking Through Fairyland

Today I'm linking up with Dolly Dowsie for the Weekenders series. It's lovely linky where you can document your weekend adventures and see what others have got up to as well.

Weekends at the moment are all over the place due to work but we only have a couple of weeks of the busy period left and we will be back to having every weekend off again...I can't wait.

Sunday just gone I was off though so I had some quality time with the boy child and my niece while the OH had to work. Weekends off together are a rarity.

We took to a local woods near my parents house in the countryside where a section of the woods have been turned into a fairyland.
I believe it began with one little girl adding some fairy doors and soon after many others have travelled to add to it too.
It's a lovely area and due to all of the additions by other people it now stretches for a quite a while.

Luke was in in element, he loved it! He walked the whole way and was so excited by each and every fairy door.
He would whisper as he got closer to a door, too cute altogether.

We've decided we will head back there in the next week or so with our own addition.

He spent the rest of the afternoon excitedly telling everyone about the "frairries". It's great to see something so imaginative and lovely and I love nothing more than seeing Luke's sparked imagination in overload, it's wonderful!

(I finished off this lovely Sunday with a girly dinner with my 2 friends, we went to East Village in Douglas, their chiken wings are to die for!)

Sing. Dance. Repeat & Repeat & Repeat....

This morning, in the space of half an hour, in around the 7.30am mark I had to watch the video for One Direction's "Steal My Girl" 4 times...yes that's right 4 times!

It seems that the boy child has a thing for this song, the video in particular. The monkey and the lion captivating him the first time he saw it.

Some may think "Ah but that's cute" or "Ah sure it's funny". Yeah it was the first couple of times but this has been going on for a month or so now. It's almost taking over from the Fireman Sam obsession, not quite but almost. He'll watch the video on the tablet or phone on repeat, at least 4 times a go and I mean he really watches it, face right up to the screen, watching intently. As soon as it's finished I hear "Again Mam".

He's watched it so much now that he knows what's going to happen before it actually does, he knows exactly when the monkey is about to come on.
He knows that Niall is his cousins favourite and every time he comes on he says "Katie like him".
He now even sings along, his favourite part being when at around 4mins and 3seconds in when Niall (I think) sings "Oh yeeeah, alriiight!"
He dances along too, a very funky ass shaking, hip swinging dance.

I know the song inside out, every single word engrained on my brain...forever. Everytime I watch I just want to give that Harry a good hair wash. As easy on the eye as he is, lanky hair just doesn't cut it! Those skinny jeans Zayn is rocking make my eyes water but I'll admit my soft spot for Niall.
It's doing my head in, I've tried to find other videos with monkeys and lions in for him to watch but no it HAS to be One Direction.

I think we just have to admit it, the boy child is a 1D fan and that's that.

I've tried influencing him with some Jimmy Eat World, Breaking Benjamin, Metallica, Rory Gallagher (I always have "Bad Penny" on in the car), a bit of Blink 182 because who doesn't love those guys but the boy child is having none of it. He just wants the boyband.

His father isn't too impressed but to be honest I blame him...he's far more guilty of listening to shite pop music than I am.

On the plus side though, when I take my niece to see the 1D boys in concert in October at least I'll know all the words to one song...and when they sing "Steal My Girl" (they BETTER sing it!) I am going to roar along and I mean screech like a mad woman louder than any of the actual 1D fans in there. She'll be mortified I'm sure.

(While writing this post my sister has just sent me a video (not the video above) of Luke watching Steal My Girl in her house and dancing away for himself, she's had to record it on the Sky planner for him....he's obsessed!!)

Weigh In Wednesday #3

It's weigh in day already!

This week has been a bit of a topsy turvy one, I was doing good until Friday when I was hit with an almighty migraine that knocked me out of sync for 3 days. I've never experienced anything like it. It meant my appetite was all over the place and I was just snacking on convenience foods for a few days.
I managed to get myself back in sync though by Tuesday with the help of some essential oils (more on that soon).
We have had some very nice Slimming World friendly meals though. I made a Bolognese pasta bake which we all enjoyed and there was enough left over for lunches at work. The OH made a delicious chicken curry using light covibut milk, even my sister and dad had sone of it.
It's our anniversary today so myself and the OH will be treating ourselves to a nice dinner and dessert tonight but back on track for tomorrow.

This week's weigh in: -1 pound

I'm delighted to have lost that pound that crept in last week and I'm feeling positive for the week ahead.

Did you have a weigh in this week? How did you get on?

Me & Mine July

I am so so so late this month, apologies!

I love the end of July because that means it's August and I love August. It's my favourite month of Summer, well technically Autumn but we won't get into that. Everything is a lot calmer than it was in July.
We have had a busy July, usually I say how fast the months go but this month went quite slow. We were busy doing mostly boring stuff like working.
We had one night out with friends and a day trip to the beach which Luke loved. He had so much fun and has been asking to go back since.
July always means my parents are off work for 2 weeks so I get to see them a bit more and Luke gets lot's of quality time with them. It's also their birthdays a day after each other at the end of the month so we had cake and little birthday tea to celebrate.
We managed to have big clear out in my parents during the last week. They hired a skip and unsurprisingly we all filled it! It's was good to find old memories from my childhood and reminisce, also great to finally get rid of some clutter.
The dog has been driving us mad, he keeps jumping the fence from one side of the garden to the other and digging up my plants, he's managed to kill off 2 of them and then went at my lavender plants last night, I was not impressed!
Luke is absolutely flying it with the chitter chatter, we are having full blown conversations now and he comes out with the funniest of things, our funniest bit to date was:
Me heading out to work: "Bye Lukey love you"
Luke, sitting on the chair legs crossed eating a yoghurt: "Bye Mam text me!"
Honestly he cracks me up! He always talks to the dog as well which is very cute to listen to.

I love our photo's this month, they are selfies that are totally grainy and not great quality taken on the iPhone but they are very us, how we are most of the time.

Here we are in July:

This month Luke loves:

  • Building sandcastles
  • Getting his feet wet in the sea
  • Eating cake
This month Dad loves:
  • A trip to the cinema with his eldest
  • His new tattoo
  • Dvd night
This month Mum loves:
  • Night out with friends
  • Cheese and Onion crisps!
  • Finally getting a chance to sit down and read
